Levosulpiride combined with rabeprazole is utilised for managing gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), acidity, heartburn, Zollinger-Ellison syndrome, Helicobacter pylori infection, irritable bowel syndrome, indigestion, and duodenal and gastric ulcers. The stomach typically has a protective mucus layer against acid. However, in certain cases, excessive acid production can erode this mucous layer, resulting in acidity.

Working of Rabeprazole Sodium and Levosulpiride Capsules

Levosulpiride and rabeprazole are combined to create a medication: rabeprazole functions as a proton pump inhibitor, while levosulpiride acts as a prokinetic agent. Rabeprazole inhibits an enzyme known as the gastric proton pump, which is essential for acid production. Levosulpiride increases the pressure of the lower oesophageal (food pipe) sphincter, helping to prevent the reflux of food and acid into the mouth. Together, Rabeprazole DSR capsule works to prevent acid reflux, thus alleviating symptoms of acidity and heartburn.

Directions For Use and Its Side Effects

It is important to take the Rabeprazole DSR capsule for the duration specified by your doctor, depending on your health issue. Some common side effects you might encounter include headaches, nausea, vomiting, gas, abdominal discomfort, dizziness, and diarrhoea. Most side effects are usually mild and will lessen over time. However, if they persist, it’s important to consult your doctor.

Precautions To Be Taken

Make sure to inform your doctor if you have a history of gastrointestinal bleeding or intestinal blockages. Long-term use of Rabeprazole DSR capsule may lead to osteoporosis and low magnesium levels. If you are pregnant or nursing, it is important to seek your doctor’s advice. This medication may cause drowsiness or dizziness, so you should only drive if you feel fully alert. Levosulpiride and rabeprazole are not recommended for children since their safety and effectiveness in this age group have not been established. Avoid drinking alcohol while taking Levosulpiride and rabeprazole, as it may increase drowsiness and boost stomach acid production.
